• NSW RFS SUPPORTIVE EMPLOYER PROGRAM NOMINATION

  • Section 1: About you

  • This form is to nominate supportive employers. Anyone can nominate an employer as supportive (including self-employed volunteers).

    All approved nominations will receive a certificate and join a pool of nominations in which the most supportive employers will be selected to receive a NSW RFS Special Commendation for their support.

    All nominations received via: workforceplanning@rfs.nsw.gov.au will be forwarded to relevant District Offices for endorsement.

  • If called to an emergency incident during work hours, how often are you (or the NSW RFS member) able to attend?
  • Do you have a story to share with us about an emergency incident you attended and how your employer was supportive?

    Perhaps they;

    • support your deployment
    • encourage volunteering
    • provide extended periods of leave
    • re-arrange your work duties?
    • are flexible with your work hours?
    • have supported your volunteering for many years?
    • work premises used for NSW RFS matters such as a drop of point for donations for those who have lost possessions during fires or does an open door policy apply where NSW RFS related matters are discussed openly?
  • During work hours, how often are you released to attend specialist NSW RFS training exercises?
  • Do you have a story to share with us about attending NSW RFS training exercises or NSW RFS matters and how your employer was supportive?

    Perhaps they;

    • allow time off to attend to NSW RFS matters such as conducting a fire awareness training at a school, community group etc….
    • allow time off to conduct the Cadet Program or other Programs
  • Are you provided with special leave provisions, which means you can attend emergency incidents or training without being financially disadvantaged?
  • Do you have a story to share with us about special leave provisions with nil or minimal financial disadvantage your employer has provided you with?

    Perhaps they;

    • have a volunteering policy
    • flexibility to work from home while on pre-emptive strike teams
  • Are your NSW RFS skills used in the workplace?
  • Do you have a story to share with us about how your NSW RFS skills are used in the workplace?

    Perhaps;

    • your skills are used in the training and education of staff in fire awareness and emergency procedures.
  • Is there anything else you would like to tell us? Feel free to attach supporting documentation.

    • check you are home safely
    • recognise your volunteering (perhaps through an achievement award) etc
